Matt- that looks almost like a module--Interesting the different sizes of buildings and way they use the slope of the land.

Why do I always have an urge to take up smoking after watching these shows?? I think I will start with unfiltered Chesterfields.
I have to go into town and find some blank, bound notebooks, some red ribbon and a silver pen, and make some "To Serve Man" cookbooks for my friends for Christmas.

This is beautiful Fred. Why did you put it here? It would look great beside the American Flag.

Just some thoughts here about modules....being able to hook up modules with other like units is a big plus for model railroaders. Suddenly your small layout turns into a rail empire with long trains traversing vast scenic splendors-- or our imaginations see it that way...... but...for each home module one has to make two end units to run trains. I see very few modules with trains running ABOVE or BELOW the main line tracks. That is the beauty of Z-- we can run realistic trains in a small area. Why not a timber train running in the high mountains, or a tourest train, or a local town commuter running below deck level?? They could be built to be independant of the mainline Z Bend tracks. At a train show - with all the modules hooked together, a viewer has to wait for a train to traverse the complete circuit before seeing it again. If there were additional trains running on one or two consecutive modules, it would be more interesting- especially if they go over and under the main line. Plus you can run these trains at home without the additional end modules.
Another thought--Why not have sceniced units that hang on the wooden facia board that supports the module-- sort of like "Drop Downs" on a computer screen. These can easily be made and braced and would not effect the Zbend tracks- but would add another demension -- maybe a water fall like Multnometh (SP??) or an interstate hiway, the Luray caverns, --lots of options.
My main module- 3'x3'- can be hooked up with other Zbend units, but also has two independant tracks- one a crazy 8 above and a roundy roundy below the main level. With the addition of the two end modules- I plan to be able to run 7 trains without the appearance of track spagetti using tunnels and scenic blinds to "hide" tracks.
Any comments-- yay or nay-- or suggestions would be most welcome
Fred

That's exactly what I suggest to all of the MidweZt HaulerZ. Nobody followed my suggestion at first but now everyone ha an oval of track either above or at grade level. They learned fairly quickly that having the module at home and not being able to use it wasn't much fun. Ellen has gone so far as to make one end of her oval removable so that it can be extended onto one of her new end modules. When the HaulerZ all get together we can run 7 trains at one time.
