Beginning to Sculpt the Foam Base
Image information
          Description

Using 1/4\" wide rasps (very small!) and 80 and 220 grits of sandpaper, I\'m sculpting the foam base of the diorama. After I put the houses, track, cork track bed and the glass cover on, Chris and I took a look at the whole thing.
We think the houses have to be closer to the height of the train, but still slightly above it. I\'m also thinking perhaps the bottom part of the foam where the glass rests might be better if it weren\'t as tall. But if it weren\'t as tall, I wouldn\'t have any place to expand the valley where the bridge goes. Also, I have to sculpt all the way around the bottom part of the foam. It\'s only about 1/4 sculpted at in this photo.
