Description
The Water Tower Kit I just completed as a KIt is modeled after this Water Tower located in Napa, CA. It was built in 1946 for The Sawyer Tanning Co.. This was the biggest tanning company on the west coast. This is famous for the Napa leather and chromium leather process. The water tower is now used for a cellular antenna site and is currently empty. It is a historical landmark. Apparently it went through an earthquake in the late 1980\'s and the entire structure at the time was full of water. The tower swayed back and forth and water spilled out of the tank. Due to lack of maintenance the tower was drained of its water supply.
When the Tannery was in operation small railroad cars moved the leather hides to production off of barges from the Napa river.
