Hi everyone!

Jim and Brad got me back on to this thread, but do to limited computer access for the next 3-4 days I won't be able to monitor the game. Could someone jump in and post a question to keep the game going?

In the meant time Fred has posed a good question on the "just for fun" thread.

Heeeeere's Fred!

Thanks,
Jerry

OK what is this, part gondola part bulkhead?!? It is definitely a hybrid, any ideas? I took this photo 3 years ago and always wondered.

If you guys send me a buck, I'll tell you;) Of course, I had to pay Karin 75 cents to find out myself, so I'll only end up make a quarter........not worth getting thrown out the upstairs window late at night:laugh:

Hi Karin,

Washington Central had a few of these gondolas, I couldn't find specifics on #3232 but found pictures of #3231 and #3233 and the following information on #3227:

WCRC 3227
Owner: Washington Central
Type: Gondola
AAR Class: GBS: Specialty Open top car, having fixed sides, fixed or drop ends and solid bottom.
AAR Type: E735
Detail Info: Equipped Gondola, Inside Length: Over 61ft, Capacity: 3,000-4,000 cu ft *Light Density Service

According to the AAR Class definition GBS are described as:

"GB" - An Open Top Car, having fixed sides, fixed or drop ends and solid bottom, suitable for (steel) mill trade

NOTE: When Gondola cars are equipped w/ any or all of the following modifications, the suffixes provided should be added to the primary classification in the order of the notes.
Note 1: Where cars are equipped with permanent racks for stowing parts or equipped ( or modified) to permit loading of a particular commodity, the letter "S" should be added to the designating letters ( i.e. GBS).

Thanks,
Jerry

Hi everyone,
Sorry for the delay, and thanks to those that posted puzzlers while I was gone. Here is a new quiz that I hope will give you a run for your money. Friday is my last "lack of internet access day" for a while so I will check in on Saturday to see how the guesses are going.

This railroad began construction in about 1870 and took 90 years to complete. This 406 mile line starts at approximately 49 feet above sea level and climbs to over 8,000 feet at its highest point. There are 86 tunnels and over 37 bridges on this route including a 180 degree curved tunnel and a 360 degree turn made up of tunnels and bridges where the railroad turns back on it self.

Name the country where you can find this railroad.

What is the name this railroad is known by.

Name the natural wonder this railroad travels through.

Thanks,

Jerry

For some reason I think it may be in Madagascar, their rail lines are highly elevated in places. I can't seem to find any info on it yet, maybe have to go look on CBC site where I seen the original documentary.

Exhausted trying to find the answer, I would say not Alaska, more then likely the Grand Canyon but I can't locate it yet. I'll wait for another clue.
