Jim, Wouldn't your scratch built Climax be more at home in the woods?

Automobiles of this era weren't usually painted red. Mainly black brown or grey.

Thanks,
Jerry

Jim,

How about the 2 diesel engines in the trees were not around when that steam engine was actually in operation.

Sorry boys, diesel is not the answer. Glue #1: You have to look close to find the catch the solution. Good Luck, Jim CCRR:woohoo:

Assuming the green building located roughly dead center in the image is a freight depot, as it appears to be, it certainly does not belong on an engine servicing track.

The figure between the Climax locomotive and the building with the Oliver sign appears to have a fishing pole.
Is he practicing his fly casting or did the hole dry up?

You guys are NOT "reading" the 1st clue. Hopeless. Here is Clue #2. This is a North American railroad and the object doesn't really belong in the photo. Good luck, Jim CCRR:woohoo:

Well, if it's that loco next to the green building in the middle, you may need to give us all a break because, given the image size, it's hard to tell if it's North American or European. The smokebox looks vaguely Eurpoean-ish, but it still could be most anything.

David,
Based on the word "catch" in the first clue I had surmised it had to do with the cow catcher on this locomotive. There doesn't appear to be a coupler on the front which doesn't match any of the photos Jim has posted of his engines except for one. It doesn't appear to be engine number 44, 47 or 6.
I think you (we) are on the right "track".

And the WINNER is: David K. Smith. Indeed it is some Euro 0-8-0 that I put a cowcatcher on in 2007. David, congratulations. Now it is your turn to give us a question please. Honorable mention to Jerry. Cheers, Jim CCRR:woohoo:

OK, then. Apologies in advance if this is either too easy or too obscure...

To what real life railway tracks is this poor woman tied?

Bonus points for detailing the circumstances of this event.

David,
It took awhile but here goes:

The Stapleford Miniature Railway, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. 4 April 1965.
The scene is from "The Avengers", "The Gravediggers" episode.

Emma is tied to a miniature railroad track while Steed battles the bad guys atop a miniature steam engine.

Here is a link to read more about the scene:

Very good David, that was fun.

DISCLAIMER: Being a railroad novice I have had to rely on the internet for the information from which I formed this question, hopefully it is accurate.

This modern Class II railroad roots began in the late 1800's and it's growth was aided by three Saints. Later growth was spurred on by what many people of the era considered the eighth wonder of the world.

Name the current day railroad.

Name the original railroad.

Name the eighth wonder.

Extra credit if you can name the three Saints.

Good luck,
Jerry
