Over all the results were very good. The photo shows the two motors in their mounts and the flywheels pressed onto the worm shafts from an F-7. I designed the mounts in Inventor and had them printed at Shapeways. The Rokuhan motors were installed in a set of “new version” F-7 A-Bs. The Maxon motors were installed in two of the older styles F-7 As. I will say up front that the old F-7s are well worn in with many scale miles; the noise reduction was pretty dramatic. I can only say that once the old open frame motors and gearing were gone the two locos purred.
Noise was reduced but not as much as I would have hoped for with the “new version” F-7 A-B set. Because my test only involved four locos it hard to say for sure why the noise reduction was not as pronounced in this installation. I can only say that I think the newer locos just need some time and miles. I don’t believe the Rokuhan motor is the reason. My plan is to do some more testing and the swapping around of the motors and trucks. One last thing, all my tests units had the Teeter Totter Tree Stuff wheel wipers installed. If you do nothing else to your MTL F-7s put in the TTTS wipers.

I understand Glen has passed. Do we know of anyone making similar wipers? Or are his still available?
