N to Z was created by Socalz44
Since it was quiet day I thought I would begin tackling a project for a client. (layout 9) He sent me this bascule N scale bridge and wants it on his Z layout. So here is a photo of the bascule part(not finished) waiting for the glue to dry. Tough job, but I think it will look pretty good when I finish. Cheers, Jim CCRR:)

This looks cool, can you tell us who makes this kit. How are you dealing with the deck and attaching the track. Will it be a working model?

Do keep us updated as you complete this project.

Oh, I hate to be a fuss about details but technically this is a ScherZer rolling lift bridge, hey someone had to say it!:)

Hi Tim, No problem. I went to Wiki and I believe they said "rolling bascule lift." This bridge came from Germany. I don't think it is made anymore. This one was purchased on ebay Germany. It was a bit of a wreck. It operates, but very poorly. The owner doesn't need it to operate so I tossed the motor. The picture shows how I dealt with the deck. I tried putting the Z scale track in the grove but the wheels on the cars bottomed out. So I dropped in some Marklin flex track. I will affix a level that will allow the bridge to be raised. Other than that it will be down all the time. Cheers, Jim CCRR:)

Currently the tooling for that kit belongs to Model Power. Not sure if it's still in production, but they aren't too hard to find.

Jim and David, I think I could work one of these onto my layout somehow. I will start looking for one.

I could end up with a layout designed around my bridge collection, oh well!

I can live with rolling bascule

Thanks Guys, Tim

Friends, I finally finished converting this bridge from N to Z. The project took over 40 hours because the original bridge had broken and missing parts. It is now wired for trains and the owner should be pleased. Cheers, Jim CCRR:)

Nice job Jim. Hopefully your client will be as gracious about letting you post progress photos as was your "Indiana" customer.
Hope to see more photos of your fine work.

YOU DID A GREAT JOB!! it really looks great, i just might have to tackle one of those! in my open pit mine im working on, i ve been using n and even ho sized diggers,, bringing the cabs and other pieces down to z, its been a struggle. but once completed should look great. their all animated, actually filling up trucks and conveyor areas,, which will really make it pop. theres alot of nice kits in n scale that just need a bit of tweeking to turn into z,,i ve been looking! way to go! canada mike:blink:
