Removing Lettering and/or Paint from AZL RDC1

Has anyone stripped either JUST the lettering, or the entire decoration from an AZL RDC?

I want another RDC1 to go with the Undec RDC1 I already have. They run in sets of 2 or 3 on the Trinity Railway Express and while I love running this little gem it just looks neglected running alone. There are some decorated (B&M, et al) RDC1's available for a good price so I was thinking about trying to remove the lettering only or stripping the paint/lettering off entirely. So just wondering if anyone has tried this, and If either can be done safely without damaging the shell. (and what chemical is used)
