I’ve been watching the sizes of the pseudo “real” looking type helis get smaller and smaller (case in point, the Align T-Rex 100S), or the even the more real looking flybarless, collective pitch helicopters such as the Blade mCP X 2, (but at 9 ¼” it’ll have to come down in size by around half of that). But will the trend to make these little birds smaller and smaller ever get down to being considered close to Z scale? NOT from the talk I hear from the 3D action pilots. I’ve even heard some say the thrill of piloting one of these smaller 3D helis just isn’t anywhere near the same as when flying one of the larger copters. BUT when have we ever known a big company to pay any attention to its customers? Nope, I’m hoping they’ll keep getting caught up in their one-upmanship games of outdoing the other in making the smallest flybarless, collective pitch helicopter out there for general sale. Then we might find someone to make some scale canopy’s for them. [In this case “scale” means something that “looks” real. The canopy’s on these little off the shelf RC helicopters look far from a real helicopter.] I’d like to see a Z scale Bell 222 myself. But I’ve got to learn to fly better myself first. Right now I’ve moved up from the small toy-like coaxial ‘s to the Double Horse 9103 (single asymmetrical blades and a flybar). But one has to start somewhere! (Well, actually the place to start is with a simulator :) )

By the way, VERY NICE coffee table, hey!

I was thinking of something really old school like the old Lionel car where the spring wound helicopter would fly off a flatcar. My idea was a copter made of foam or carton, tiny motor and rotor that the small RC ones use in tail, and a charged capacitor that would spin the blade for a few seconds, enough to "launch" it. It would probably tear up scenery and get stepped on though.
I would be happy with a good static model of a Bell 47, with either lasered or photo etched tailboom and clear bubble canopy.

These buildings are N scale :woohoo: cut down to Z :). This must have been done 20+ years ago- Wow- Time does fly-
Up until recently we in Z have not had a nice series of Z scale buildings. Karin and David are now releasing fine scale buildings. Thank eeeeew!! :)
If you have a layout or module where the building can only be seen from one direction- here's an idea:
I used the fronts ( in this case the backs) of the buildings to make another series of buildings. I did the fronts in a similar way- but can't find them right now to photograph. And instead of making a full 3D- they could be used as flats up against a backboard. John Allen often did not finish detail the sides of his buildings that would never be seen.

Help! Somebody come get me... I'm stuck down in Clarksville... no one came to meet me!

(Ok, ok, I know Micky sang that song, and not Davy... but Davy was in the chorus, so there!)

In 1934 Lightship Nantucket was rammed and sunk by the sister of Titanic--RMS Olympic-- Killing 7 of 11 crew members as it approached the sea lanes south of Cape Cod, to New York Harbor, in dense fog.

Several lightships today are museum ships.

Between 1820 and 1983, 179 lightships were built to guard 116 locations on all 4 coasts. Ten lightships are museums today. Modern Texas towers or more recently heavy seabouys have replaced all lightships.

Isn't this an amazing shot? It's almost as if it's a model.

Anyone dare to guess country?

Close but you'll need to go 660km further east...

660km = 410 miles- depending on starting point- Finland or Russia??--Estonia, Latvia, or Lithuania??
That was a good guess right out of the box Terry.

It sure was - the photographer is Sergey Makarenkov who has specialised in aerial photography. I found the photo on www.englishrussia.com.
