This for Kelley. Our discussion in chat touched on CNC machines and I wanted to show him the site where a modeller is using a digital plotter/cutter.

I've been using lasers since the first one I built with some partners back in 1983...got real spoiled. After relocating to Orlando, I didn't have access to one to do this big architectural project for a theme park. I had my sign cutter, which is simuilar to what dave is showing above. I tried different plastics and they all finished with raised lines. I finally got a piece of PETG, the same clear material we use at MTL for slip covers in our boxes. I scores very clean and with a little surface sanding, makes for amazing details. I had to do very complext paving patterns in the entry area...cut a sheet 2'x 5' and the end result was flawless.
