David,

What is the deal with this? Is this a long, out of production, set of deer?

If so, then they would be a candidate for molding/casting for multiplicity or multiplication! Whichever is more deciferable!

Hobo Tim :)

Currently there are no Z Scale deer in production. The only (legal) option is to find old OOP Merten or Faller stock. I would caution against bootlegging even OOP items; there's no knowing who might show up knocking on your door.

I do believe that this set has been out of production for at least 15 years. Probably found at the back of the closet. Cheers, Jim CCRR:)

Ahhhh, all the way in New Jersy. Too far to go for a poaching run. Too expensive to win through ebay. (Can't wait to see how much they go for. My guess, over $50)
I guess I'll just have to wait and see if Loren's salt block trick will help attract them West.

Right Dave, but what if someone knocked them off and 'gave' them away? Of course there might be a little behind the scene trading of certain negotiable items?

There's gotta be a way to bring back Bambi and his friends.

Well, of course, there's nothing to stop anyone from trying. I mean... there's a guy on eBay who's been selling knock-offs and modified knock-offs of the Marklin American Classic cast resin structures, and he's been doing it for several years, so obviously people can get away with it.

So with still over four days to go, and after a little auto-bidding skirmish yesterday, the bid is only up to $8.50 so far ($13.40 delivered) ... maybe won't get to that $50 target that Bill set but certainly seems reasonable that it will be quite profitable for the seller!

I'd really suggest contacting the German (I believe) company making the elk and see if they'd be interested in producing deer, if that's what's needed or wanted. I'd always suggest supporting any Z manufacturer over knocking off, stealing, any product. Z scale is a small enough pool without making it smaller.

I also noticed a new listing for Woodland Scenics N-Scale deer that the listing seller was also listing in the Z-Scale section and suggesting that they could be Z-Scale elk

Brad, These are the ones I use. I toss all but one of the larger ones and stick it way in the back. (something for the grandkids to hunt) The younger deer I repaint and use as foreground fauna. Not great, but all we have. Cheers, Jim CCRR:(

no one has made deer in 3 years,, im told by freundl at moba point. the molds got wrecked and they decided not to get a new set at 4 grand a set of 6. soo, i ve been pushing hobby crafts n more to start making deer,, he has everything else!! but so far its fallen on deaf ears. so i buy the n scale deer n use them, they look bigger, just stick them behind logs n bury their legs in a bit, or in the water. if you want moose or bloody gaters,, go to hobbycrafts n more. canada mike

I guess it's because I didn't bid it up. LOL!

Looks like the Noch deer will blow past the Mertens. Which doesn't add up, either, because you get more than twice as many deer (12) with the Merten set than the Noch (5). I guess perhaps there are Noch collectors out there... which leaves me scratching my head, because the quality of Noch figures is poor, as compared to Preiser or even Merten.

$36.51 was the final price + 4.90 = $41.41 delivered.
