Z Central Station for sale. was created by zcentral
After careful consideration I have decided to put ZCS up for sale. My busy work and family life prevent me from giving ZCS the dedication it deserves. The site is up for bid to all who are interested on ebay:

So, I see it is sold Brad, who is the new proprietor?

Does this mean you are selling the volcano too?

Excellent question, so the winner of the auction for ZCS is John Kellett aka soccrdad30 on ZCS. Congrats to John! I have had many conversations with John and I am sure he will do great things for ZCS.
;)

PS. I would like to run the volcano at one more big show then I might sell it.

Thank you very much Brad. And I want to thank everyone for the well wishes and support. The Z Central Station (ZCS) site could not have grown and blossomed to the rose it is today without the hard work of Brad, Jim, and Uwe. And I also need to include the Z modelers who helped nurture ZCS to what it is today.
Your beloved ZCS will stay as it is with the exception with some cosmetic changes and the inclusion of several enhancements. I have enlisted the help of Stony Smith for assistance with the site. Stony's knowledge, expertise, and reasoning skills will be great for ZCS. I need to apologize to Uwe Liermann for not formally asking him to remain with ZCS as moderator. Over the last two - three years I have followed Uwe's knowledge, experience, and patience on several other z-boards besides ZCS. I would be very grateful and thankful if he would like to continue on.
Some of the best features of ZCS will continue on such as Free Membership, Picture Gallery, Forums, and Chat. As an IT guy, I work with several hardware companies that offer Chat services. There is nothing better than being in chat with tech support agent while working on a pc issue. Now translate into model railroading, and specifically ZCS Chat. "Immediate Interaction" comes with this very strong tool. A few weeks ago we were working on a MTL F7 issue. Others get help or ideas, and sometimes the conversations turn other tangents like computers. If you ever get some time, stop in chat, and introduce yourself. Chat is always running, read the history. Chat does start to get populated from 9:00pm EST and usually stays busy until 12:00AM EST.
On the menu you may have seen one enhancement already, a LinkZ page to popular modeler, retailer, club, and manufacturer sites. If there is a site we should have, please email Stony or myself and let us know. Please keep in mind that we are not out to break the Guiness Worlds Record for most Links. We will use some discretion.
Another planned enhancement and we are working on the details, would be to create an Events page. This events page would have train show schedules, train run meets, or maybe your Z club schedule. This way you make others aware of your activities and to spark interest.
Plus, we have several "secret" enhancements, that we can not really get into until more research is done and to show viability.
On my last note. I would like you to feel "at home" when you visit ZCS. Yes, you may visit other forums, retail sites, and modeler sites. But, I hope you feel most comfortable learning and sharing on ZCS.

Sincerely,

John Kellett

John,

I'm sure I speak for many when I say "thank you" for stepping up to the plate and I know you will give it your best shot.

I am sorry to see Brad give this up, but I know Brad has a lot on his plate.

On another note,I have seen Brad's volcano in action at NTS and other venues and I must say that single handedly,Brad's volcano brings folks to the layout like nothing else can. Talk about a crowd pleaser.....this is the tops.

Thank you for your kind words and no need to apologize. To be fair to Brad and Jim I have to say that my part in the work for ZCS wasn't that much to do. Brad asked my mainly to cover for issues that might come up when someone writes a message in German (or Danish) instead of English. Brad and Jim did all the real work. Of course I will stay on the job if that is your wish.

I'm happy to see that you took up the task to let ZCS live on. And I hope that Jim will stay with us so we can get his input again.

For the LinkZ section I have at least one addition:

ZettZeit.ch from Jens Wimmel in Switzerland. His links page is one of the most complete link collections that I've seen yet. And his articles about Z-scale are an absolute must read. Only downside is that his website is only in German.

Now I will step down from my little soapbox and go play with trains in the hamburgmuseum

GreetingZ, HilZen,

Uwe

John, thank you for spending your hard money to buy ZCS, and keeping it in the z scale family.

Thank you John for supporting the site. And definitetly THANK YOU to Brad. I first discovered Z at a train show. If it were not for this site, my discovery might have remained just that. I haven't gotten very far in the hobby, but I have lots of plans and a few things underway. I hope many others find this site the resource that I did.

The great thing about ZCS is that 'Z'! I know of only one other forum dedicated Z scale (forum.z-friends-europe.de) and it is mostly in German (though many of the members are happy to use English for dunderheads like me who are too lazy to learn a second laguage). Other forums may have a Z section (e.g. Marklin-Users.net and modelrailforum.com) but they are dominated by other scales. And yet others are completely general and Z is just yet another scale, mostly ignored.

Mind you, isn't it a bit like that in the exhibition world. Unlike N scale, we don't have a dedicated Z scale exhibition in the UK as Z is not very common. Sadly, many of those who visit general exhibitions walk straight past non British outline layouts. However, that is probably common to many countries.

Anyway, I woudl like to add my thanks to those who have tended ZCS over the years and my best wishes to those who will continue to keep it going in years to come. THANK YOU!

All the best,
Chris.
