storage of your layout was created by Stiv44
i had a general question i was just wondering but not planning on doing.

from what i have read is people try to keep there layouts in temperature and humidity controlled environment. but how much of a change can your layout get damaged or warped. from what i have heard is if u put it in the garage say over winter it would contract, cracking sceanery and making track possibly not align.

so lets say u were building a layout and decided to put it in storage over winter and work on it in the spring would this really damage it? what if its in the basement and u didnt bother to control the humidity?

what im looking for is this is ok, this is not , or this will for sure detroy your work?

i mean are some peoples layouts in the basement that have dehumidifiers suddenly get flooded and the owner takes a couple days to get everything cleaned up would this render the layout in bad shape or only possibly?

I have an "N" scale layout 12' X 8' X 4' wide. It has been in storage for five years in Florida storage unit with no controlled climate. The last time I checked I seen no damages to the layout! the only problem I saw was that the track had tarnished form the moisture inside the unit from warm and hot and also rainy weather.
The frame work it set on was not in use because it was taken off to set the two 4'X8" sheets with 2"foam along the wall covered with a cotton sheet to keep the dust off. The stands set to the side also so there was no weight on the (1"X3") wood built frames used to hold it up as a stand. So I have 1"X3" frame under the sheet of plywood and the foam on top of the plywood. I have a large mountain three bridges and enough tracks to run 4 trains at the same time without DCC. The four tracks are isolated from each other so there are four transformers They have never ran into each other when being run at the same time. I had removed all the buildings and stored them in boxes. The only reason I put mine in storage is that I was moving and didn't have the room to set it up where I'm at now. But one day!!!!
