I have been toying with the idea of a Z layout for a while, but I had to go all in last week when I stopped at my LHS and they had a MTL GP9 in Grand Trunk Western paint. Having grown up in a small Michigan town along the GT main I couldn't leave it there! I picked up a MTL starter set of track so I can get a simple layout running for our local train club show Feb. 22, 2009. If I have half as much fun with Z as I have had in other scales, it will be fantastic.

Hello Vern and welcome to ZCS. The possibilites of Z scale are tremendous. If you are into scenery Z scale is tough to beat. Of course if small layouts are your thing then Z is just right. Enjoy, participate, and search through our Archive sections. Cheers, Jim CCRR:)

I got my T scale (I already had ZZ and TY) just in time for my last exhibition. Just set up a there and back again line with auto-reversing. Visitors were amazed at the size, but only a handful worked out how the TY (1:900) layout worked. You can see these items on my website trains.manvell.org.uk/sub-z/
