Subways was created by Kelley
Because I never have time money or all the skills, I will throw this idea out to whoever wants to pick it up.
Subways was brought up, and Mr JA is great to offer the Japanese trains.
Wouldn´t it be great,to make a really cool module, showing underground subway working?
A nice city scene above, steps going down to subway station, and subway trains either going back and fourth or in a loop.
It should be pretty easy to make. using layers of foam. Front of module where people would see it would be plexiglass. LEDS through the tunnel.
Imagine the fun you could have with other stuff in the layers, the cables, a sewer (with a little Ed Norton down below, wooden blockades and manhole covers are made in Z)
Even put some dinosaur bones in the layers for a gag.
I grew up with antfarms, colored sand art, and visible P51, so you can see how my thoughts are going on this.
I am thinking, if done well, would be be the cats meow at any model railroad show.

Kelley,

That would be a great module. Lots of scratch-building to acheive that in Z but well worth it. I've seen some great subway modules in other scales. Check out the Yahoo NEW YORK CITY TRANSIT MODELERS GROUP groups.yahoo.com/group/NYC_TRANSIT_MODELERS_GROUP/?yguid=409605396

Pretty cool eh?

Thanks John those are great. When I think big city and z scale I think of you. Digging around the net, I see subways are not too deep. I think it could be done pretty easy, plexiglass in front can be made to slide out if you have to get to the trains. Might be a bear to get tracks lined up together at 2 different levels, but not impossible. flexable stuff that looks like tile is easy enough to find for curved walls. even if its printed card stock with semi gloss.
Thanks for the link. Maybe someone will take off with the idea.

Gerard Blaaubeen from Belgium made a very nice small layout with an underground railway station, a tramway and a mainline with a nice military transport. The underground station could as an inspiration for those building a subway.

Kelley,

Thanks! I love big city model railroading!

What would be cool is connecting the first and second levels with a helix that way you could run two train endlessly and it would seem like numerous trains coming in and out of the subway at different levels.
