If you can figure out the math they were running at 330mm in two seconds in the video so what speed is that in Z. I was using about 5 volts cause any faster and I can not keep it in the camera field of my digital camera. These motors are 12v ones and the wheel are the smallest I have seen as driving wheels in Z so far.At 12volts t I can make them fly around the oval, not that I am inclined to do that usually. These are original "O" series so not quite as fast as later versions. I calculated it was doing a scale 130kph. Of course my math could be faulty as well. so at ten volts it should get up to 260kph. So I do not think that is to far off the mark.

Sorry Garth, I was kidding. Actually I was directing the remark toward Alex, since he rides the fast ones all the time.

Joe... I specifically calculated the correct scale speeds of these two different versions of the 0-series Shinkansens, because I knew you would never cut me any slack. I will leave it up to you to figure out on what part of their individual routes that these two versions would be running at these speeds.

Yes on the Shinkansen all wheels are metal as they have pick-ups on every axle for lighting or power to the motor or both.

so far all the models I have seen from Crown, Tenshodo, Pro-z, RealZJ, and Tarranetz, have had metals wheels .

I have not seen any of the power units available on the internet for almost a year now. Occasionally Hobby Search [www.1999.co.jp/eng/list/1568/0/1] has a restock of some of the items as well as Plaza Japan's ebay store. The car bodies came in boxes of ten pieces and were marketed as a static toy with plastic rail and a packet of candy and were sold in variety stores not just hobby shops. You had to think ahead and purchase the car bodies almost a full year ahead of the running gear being released by Eisen Platz. Many did just this as when the running gear arrived in the stores it flew off of the shelves. The under car chassis consisted of three types. control car A and control car B inside cars plus a power chassis which goes under one of the inside cars of a 6 or 8 car train. Even though all the car chassis come with power pick-ups and fittings to hold lighting there is not any LED lighting available for this train either head end, tail or interior. yet.The power pick-ups are not connected car to car so only the power pick-ups on the power care are used to bring track power to the motor. The EIsen Platz units are very free rolling so one power car can move a six car train with ease on the flat. For longer trains I recommend two power cars for 8 and 10 car consists. The only person who might be able to locate a power unit is Alex Mr JA and you can find in on the chat from time to time on this board.

To anyone that might be interested... I can get a six-unit, RTR, motorized Shinkansen sets in either white with blue stripe or white with green and grey stripe. These sets come in a nice ProZ bookshelf case.

$220.00, plus postage.

I don't know how long they will last at the shop.
