I have 10 FR 53 foot intermodal containers for csx and i would like to use them with my new Micro train lines 48' csx well cars. the FR containers pins dont match up with the pins on MTL's containers. Does anyone make 48'containers that will match up other then the marklin 40'ers that will look bad along side the new FR's?

Thanks Steve aka "Slugger" B)

Steve, I use FR's 40' reefers, FR's 20' and Marklin's 20'container with my 53' containers. Another way is to cut down the 53" to either a 40',45',or a 48' container. The last option is to glue the 53' to a MTL 40' container. I know most of this options are not simple but at least is a option. By the way, I dont use Marklin's 40' containers. They are just way too ugly with the doors on the side.

Steve,

John summed it up pretty good. Not many choices.

Make My Model use to make RP Acrylic containers that mated to either MTL or FR/MCZ/Marklin containers! Unfortunately, they are no longer in business.

With that said, you will soon have one more option!

AZL will soon be releasing two new containers!!!

45' & 53'

At this very moment, according to AZL's website,
www.americanzline.com/html/status.html
the 53' NSC (National Steel Car) wellcars are finished and just awaiting the completion of the 45' & 53' containers, so they can be released. 4th Quarter 2009!

Looking at the grouping above, you will soon have the option to connect your 53' containers to FR's, Marklin's, or AZL's containers. My understanding is the containers will all be 100% compatible. Please have a few more weeks of patience!!!

Guess What? I just saw that Anthony, at Z Scale Monster, still has some 48' MTL compatible RP Acrylic containers left in stock!!! Not sure how many, but a simple email can confirm how many and if he indeed has some in stock. Posting this probably will lead others to his website to scoop these up! Better hurry!!
