Does anyone else here like diesel railcar sets? Examples made by Marklin include the VT 11.5 and VT 08.5, not to mention the famous "Flying Hamburger" (I've got all three). My wish list includes the four car sets built by the NS/SBB for TEE service, three of which became the "Northlanders", plus the ICE TD (even though it's out of my era).

I like them a lot, but there isn't much usable for era IV.

My favourites are the electric gottardos, but noone makes them in z scale. Ep3 would be TEE read/cream (RAe-TEEII), ep4 dark/light grey eurocity (RABe-EC), ep5 red/cream (RABe). One of their speciality is that the engine is in the middle and passangers can walk through it.

I really want to build the NS 'Sneltrein' Bombardier emus. I am thinking of giving up on them in Z and just being content with HO ones. If I were to hack something to make them in Z, I wonder what the most appropriate ones would be, either one of the diesel sets or the ICE.
A Pendolino would be great too. But these are all electrics.

I also like the diesel rail cars and have the Flying Hamburger, and the Mountain Express. I came upon a manufacturer that makes Triebwagens. His name is Heckl Kleinserien and here is his website. Just the English side is under construction, so click on the German side, click products then Triebwagen.

I found one of his models on E Bay USA through a dealer called Scandinavian Galleries it is the SVT 04 000 red & cream.

Hi Robert and thanks for the response, and I'd like to see electric railcars too. It's my understanding that there weren't all that many of them before Era 4.
I've seen that website too, although what really caught my attention there was the Blue Enzian passenger car set. On another forum that I belong too it was suggested that one should be careful in any dealings with Heckl - mainly because of very slow or non-existent deliveries.

I like my little red gaspowered railbuses. They were everywhere and was ending their service about the time I came over to Germany. Still quite a few in the hands of clubs and private owners. I am waiting for an American powered railcar to come out. A doodlebug would be just the thing for the railroad I am planning.

I like those railbusses also. Sadly the ones without advertisements are not in the catalogue anymore.

I should have piced some up at Conrad when they were on sale...I got some really old ones at a flea market. I did put in some after market lights from High Tech Modellbahnen and working on putting on some hooks and taking off the big couplers

Earlier this year I purchased a limited edition Rail bus set from Marklin that is snow covered. It is HOac and I operate it on the So Cal ETE club layout. www.etesocal.org
Yes I know this is Z scale but just wanted to share my good fortune.
