an advice... was created by sky_68
Hallo to all,
I want to buy a new loco. I really like American Diesel Locomotives. I love F7.
I don't care if my layout is american or european style...
I want to pull passenger cars.
Which item you reccomend? I saw the new SD-40 of Micro Trains, and I like it.
What do you think about?

Thanks

Paolo

While the SD-40 is not a typical engine used in passenger service in North America it has definitely pulled passenger trains in other countries thou.

SD-40 runs well and if you get the UP version you can match it with UP passenger cars from Micro Trains as well if you can find them still.

cheers Garth

If you like Gp7s, the Pennsylvania R.R. ran trains with their Gp7s, you could convert a Marklin set to American couplers and run that. Also, Marsillus line makes passenger cars for the U.P. that goes well with the darker grey paint scheme, and you could use Penn-Central cars with a P.R.R. loco. You also could use the Micro-Trains Gp-9 with a Marklin B&O passenger car set if you can find it, but I am not 100% sure the B&O ran Geeps on their passenger trains.

You could run UP cars in a modern setting as the UP "Heritage" fleet, They have F7s (As and Bs), a DD40X, an SD 40 and the Challenger steam engine

HI Paolo;

UP = Union Pacific Rail Road and the paint scheme is red on yellow for the cars and engine.
