Seen here is the \"first article\" pewter casting of the 2-8-2 Mikado body shell to fit the Marklin powered chassis with a comparison of the wax master, a true scale drawing. We are on schedule for our promised 9/26 release! We need to know how serious the Z scale market is! We need to know how many units to produce. Currently we have advance orders for 27 units at the advance reservation price of $50.00. But, the actual release price may change, ...we hope not! (We just don\'t know yet - remember this is our first time casting pewter!) Here are modifications we will be making to the master; 1. remove handrails on forward steps, (should we remove the steps as well?) 2. thicken forward steam pipes, 3. re-position screw hole and adjust removable dome, 4. polish Master\'s boiler sides before casting, 5. add VERY THIN \"filler\" FLASH to all openings, (to be removed by modeler) 6. raise cab vent, 7. raise embossment of external piping, 8. lower cab roof closer to boiler top, 9. lower boiler body closer to chassis top. Other suggestions or positive comments will always be welcome.
