Wood Trestle Bridge was created by southernnscale
I'm working on wood trestle bridge. Is there any place to get information on real timber trestle bridges and how they where built. The bents seem easy but the deck area where the track is layed,

to find sizes of wood used?

Hi,
Model Railroad Magazine has a book that covers dimensions for wood trestle bridges (as well as others). A while back they were offering it as an e-book. The deck area is generally a number of timbers between the bents that support the ties, which are typically laid at half the spacing.
There is also at least one laser kit available.

Hope this helps,

Mark

You might try the 'bible' of bridge building: books.google.com/books?id=NZEOAAAAYAAJ Jim

Black Bear Con Comp has some info that can be used, even if you want to build a trestle from scratch:
www.blackbearcc.com/tjk_6lho.htm

On this page 2 drawings can be downloaded, that give you typical dimensions:

I used info from here to create my own trestle from scratch on my new Zmod module:
