I do some scratch building in larger scales but believe me, skilled it ain't!

Practice it in Z, and after a short time you'll be surprised how easy to build difficult looking things. There are no rules, you can use parts of plastic, brass and wood kits, railroad cars and dead or working locomotives, vehicles, watch parts, anything... The most important component of modeling is to do it, and don't be afraid about botching your project. (Lots of screwed up models end up as precious antiques on eBay... :laugh: ) One more thing. Try to model the real thing, not models.
