Kelly,
I've found they're very easy to make from soft wood. It's very easy to round off the top and bottom of a retangular piece of wood and then cut it to length. I use cut-to-length straight pins as legs and that way the head of the pin gives a little bit of a base for the leg to stand on and the point of the pin is easy to push into the soft wood. Or if the look of that doesn't appeal to one, the heads can just be snipped off. The snipped off heads also make a good filler cap to the tank. And for more detail, just a little piece of straight pin can also be used as the fuel gauge that sticks up from the tank. A bit of small wire glued to the bottom of the tank can then be used to run the fuel to the house or what have you. The only problem I've found is that sometimes the side of the tank wants to push out some when sticking in the pins. The thinner the straint pins (like silk pins or even thinner), the better. Should be a breeze for you Kelly!
