Stony, John,

I don't know the actual measurements of the cement container. But... I do have one of the N scale containers to measure.

The barrel width is 7 1/4' wide. The barrel width with two tabs on opposing sides are 9' wide. Total height of the cement container is 10'. While the height of just the barrel is 8' leaving the top to be 2' tall.

Now the interior width of a MTL 50' gondola is little over 8' while the MTL 40' gondola is just under 7 1/2'.

So if you design the cement container to 7' or 7 1/4' they can be inserted into any MTL gondola, and this is assuming the tabs sides are skewed to fit inside.

Stony, I remember having one of those cars John gave you sites to check .. in O scale :woohoo:
Aboard ship LCL means "LESS than CONTAINER LOAD"- not sure if it's the same on rails... a set of 5 might be a gondola load.

One Thought-- Just make sure the lifting units are strong and won't break off. Some of us- well me- have 10 thumbs.

The details look much better than the N scale cement containers. And I agree with Fred on the lifters.

On my earlier 'skew' comment. I did not mean to skew the model, what I meant was to make sure they fit in the gondola well because the N scaled cement containers have little 1' tabs and they have to be set in a way to fit inside the gondola.

Stony,

Ah..."skew" not "skew". ;) I love working through non-face to face / voice to voice communication. "Houston, we didn't have a problem." Thanks Stony, that is good news.

Stony,

You work fast! I just checked Shapeways and "boom" you already have a set of ten cement containers ready to go. Can all ten of the containers be disconnect from the sprue?

[Joke]No, the #7 container must stay atached to the sprue[/joke]
The real question here was.. would people prefer 8, 10, 12 or my preference for sets of 300???
