I believe the images would be far too tiny to discern. For a similar effect in N scale, I used a multi-color LED unit from a toy and simply placed it behind the tv screens, which had frosted acetate to pick up the light. It's not as convincing in a macro video shot as it is catching it in the corner of your eye on the actual layout.
