I'll second that, Jim. B looks to have more conversion possibilities.
B it is!

It's B ( J Type) for me as well. I looks like it will have grace and power. What more can you ask for?

Hi Steve, Welcome. It is a beauty. It would be my first choice as well except I don't think the drivers on the Marklin chassis are large enough to look correct. We'll see what happens. Cheers, Jim CCRR:)

On Trainboard I posted A, because I instantly thought of the bullet nose as a J class. Now I want B, because I want a straight boiler.

What I really want is an NP Heavy Mike shell, so the B type can be hacked with a longer smokebox for NP.

Well I like them all! My first choice would have been A but I do think the wheel size is a bit of an issue, so I will have to go with B, but that twelve wheel tender is so cool. We are talking shell only right so I'll have to stick with B.

Myself I vote for "A"... About the matching chassis s.o. was speaking of Marklin's. Did I understand wrong or are these possible shells to be linked with the future Japanese Mike's chassis?

Dom, Just the Marklin Chassis. I'm sure there are those in the hobby that are ready for this new shell and are already to begin kitbashing. In fact I'm on the way to the Post Office to mail the chassis to the builder right now. Cheers, Jim CCRR :)

So Jim what's the deal, is Marklin coming out with a new loco or is someone else issuing this new shell, or are we just fantasizing and daydreaming.

Here is the deal. Someone is coming out with a new shell, probably pewter, to go on top of the existing Marklin chassis. Essentially this is a replacement for the lame Marklin shell that has been around for 30 years. I'm sure it will be 'B'. All the polls are leaning for this model. Delivery early Fall. Cost? Commitments will be asked for ahead of production, so anywhere between $50 and $75 per shell. Some of us have 4 or 5 of these Marklins and I know I want 3 myself. The manufacturer breaks even at around 70 units. The manufacturer has other plans for Z scale. Depending on the popularity of this shell selling will be the difference in whether other Z scale locos or suprizes will be offered. If you don't have the Marklin Mikado then they are on ebay all the time. Kind of expensive these days however. But it is probably the only way to enter steam in Z scale these days. Cheers, Jim CCRR:)

It really sucks to know that my only American steam loco is lame. LOL. I really like the "A" shell, maybe they can offer all three shells.

Terry, Ha, ha. I have three of these lame shells! So don't feel bad. Also, in this politically correct world we try not to point out individual countries. That is why North American and Euro is preferred. Sorry, I didn't make that rule, lawyers did. Cheers, from NA, Jim CCRR:woohoo:

Well Jim, I was only referring to your comment.

Essentially this is a replacement for the lame Marklin shell that has been around for 30 years.

Sorry for referring to a country and not a Continent.
