Anybody been playing around with it yet? I have just started to dive into Arduino and have a few basic ideas, but wanted to know what others may have tried.
I'm working an a project for characterizing locomotive performance. An Arduino with a motor shield and a couple of IR sensors. Basically the program runs a loco around a loop at a series of voltages, measures the time delay between tripping the two sensors placed at a specific distance, calculates the scale speed at the applied voltage and reports back to my computer.
I've also posted a couple of programs in another thread for a traffic signal.
My background is in microcontrollers and in general I find the Arduino an expensive solution for many projects in model railroading like lighting control or crossing signals or a traffic light. I find that something like the Microchip PICs or Amtel's AVR chip to be more appropriate.
