I'd like to do that. If anyone has done it, I'd be curious as to what decoder you used, what you learned, etc.

I used a CTelektronik DCX74ZD and it fits in the pocket at rear of tender weight. I put a layer of capton tape on top and bottom before putting it into the opening. all your power and motor connections are right there at rear of the motor under the tender weight. Either here or on train board there are pictures of an install in a C62. On my DCC system I had to change from page mode programming to direct programming mode.Other than that it is like any other decoder install. Headlight is good for constant lighting so works on DCC as constant on, so if you want to be able to control it you have to run 2 wires forward, across draw bar under boiler shell to the module under the stack, and figure out how to isolate it from chassis and to feed it once isolated. I choose the easy route and did not do this.

Thanks. Haven't been able to find anything on Trainboard, but something may be broken there right now. I didn't get a single hit on any term I used. Same for here, other than this post. I'll keep looking.
I read somewhere that some manufacturer's don't color their wires the same as others, so it's easy to wire the decoder incorrectly.
