eit27,
Isolating the metal wheels seem to be a good Idea! but when looking at some of the body parts of the model are pretty close to the rails. The front spreader where the rails run thru are really close. I was thinking That it would be nice to put a coat of some type of rubber base paint on just the bottom of the model to also isolate the body which is all metal.

Walt I kept a piece of track on my work bench when I built the kit. I found that I had to keep checking the positioning of the parts. At one point, I actually had a piece slip slightly and was touching the rail, I did remove it and reposition it. The pieces are close, but not touching the rails. It is pretty cool out tight the tolerances are, but no issues with shorting.

Rob,
I just got to get a good air brush! The regular brushes doesn't do small models well. The paint dries too fast and clumps up looks bad. this payday I'm going to fine me a good air Brush since I have been doing a lot of models. Well here is mine no decals yet! hand brush and all. Even a driver I hope he knows what he doing!

Nice! Good call on the driver. I hand brushed mine as well. I did very thin coats. I was really worried about loosing the details, but it didn't happen, even with the primer first.

Rob,
showcaseminiatures has Vallejo paints, I have never used them, have you? Or any one else. I was wondering if they might cover the metal better! I have been using Acrylic Stain by Docholliday come in 2fl. oz. bottles. Do you have an air brush and what is you opinion on the best one out there without getting to pricey! I have used Brinks commercial air rigs in painting real steel building and airless rigs with enamels paints but never use small air brush.

I tried the Vallejo paints for this project. It was my first experience with them. I really like the paint! It goes on nice and even. This coats are possible. John Cubbin recommended I think them with Windex. This worked great! The thin black wash was nothing more than windex and their black paint. I do have an airbrush but have not even tried it out yet. It is on the old too do list.

Very nice.
Looks very similar to the Knox-Kershaw I used to run.
