i was looking into buying a mtl sd40-2. can anyone tell me there likes dislikes? whats the sharpest tun they can take (radius?)
im stocking up on some rolling stock and track so i can start the workbench in the winter. im trying to finish some house projects the sooner the beter and i can start on a starter layout.
I have a video on you tube of it running on R145mm but you need a 50 foot care with body mounted couplers to run behind it on these curves as the coupler hangs way out and can pull a care off the track in a curved if it is not heavy enough. My experience is that in reality R170mm is about a sharpest radius that it can operate on with just about anything in tow and not have worry about any operational problems due to the wheelbase of the loco.
