Marklin Double Slip Switch and DCC

Howdy All,

I'm working on a new track design, and it calls for a double slip switch to make it all work. I run DCC and have never tried any of Marklin's turnouts or track with DCC.

Does anyone have experience with the Marklin double slip switch with DCC? Any problems with locos like AZL's?

Its been a long time since I used the double slip (in a yard layout). Since it isn't power routing (like all Marklin turnouts) I don't see any DCC issues so long as you have short circuit protection. Mechanically, I was not pleased with it: collected crud too easily and was not uncommon for trains not too follow the selected route, particularly in reverse.

All their turnouts are DCC friendly. However, there are a LOT of close tolereaces in that monster and, any out-of-gauge axles or derailments will test those fine sweeping contacts. Put a 1A bulb in that circuit area to give it a chance to survive if you are running a 5A system. OK probably with the Power Cab as the main supply is only 2A or less. Still better with a 1A (~12Watt) or less bulb. NOTE: Electronic circuit breakers will deliver the FULL DCC current before they trip in their alloted time (usually 0.25 seconds). So if using a 5A (or hihger [gulp]) DCC System/booster, the Electronic Breaker is not a good idea.
