Want to know the rest of the story? When Karin moved down to Medford and we got married, I got that same package of track back after Karin had it stored for almost 2 years.
And I never gave her money back either...............

Sure wish Dragonlady liked trains--then I would not be so misunderstood and I wouldn't have to drag her kicking and screaming to the train shops.

Loren, Karin happy anniversary! Can I be so bold as to ask which one? Paper cutouts? Wooden craft kit? Plastic boxcar? Or dare I say brass locomotive?
Congratulations!
It is #4 for us. No paper, wood, plastic, or brass this time around.
So far we haven't given each other anything special for the day, but knowing we each have a Z partner is about the best daily gift either of us could hope for.
Not bragging, but honestly, I don't know of any other couple who are as closely knit with a common hobby as Karin and me. We both feel very fortunate to have this hobby in common.
I used to do RC speed boats and I remember seeing several wives sitting in their lawn chairs either reading a book or doing some sort of stickery, but definitely NOT being into their husband's hobby one bit. They either felt compelled to be there with hubby or were determined not to sit at home while hubby had all the fun.
I call these types of women hobby widows. Some guys are determined to have their hobby and the spouse be damned. It's not that way for either Karin or me. We do tend to get too involved and committed at times......like recently in the preparation for NTS, but that is a rare exception. BTW, we both vowed not to let that happen again. We will make sure to take it slowly and moderately in preparation for any future shows.
I used to joke that the only serious argument we had often was to determine whether we would run ARR or UP locos on our layout, but in four years of marriage we have yet to run trains at home except for maybe a test track. We have to attend shows in order to run trains, and even then neither one of us has done much of that.
Now that NTS is over and we're looking at November here in Medford for the next train show, perhaps we will have Karin's new theme park layout up and running so she can sit and visit with the public as the trains run.
I've gotten inspiration from NTS to begin some new modules that will allow me to actually set up my modules here at home and run as it should be.
Our 600 square foot upstairs family room is just begging to have a train club occupy the space.
Well, that's the current state of affairs. Time to take my gal to lunch.

<psst... Karin... Can you get your money back? I think you got cheated. >
Loren... you're dang lucky to find such a woman as Karin! Think of all the money you are saving by having your very own in-house kit designer.

Yup, she is chief designer and I'm chief everything else......like burner, packer, shipper.......takes us two to get the job done.
Oh, and I ended up using the track on her layout so she got a custom track installation thrown in for good measure..
