Does MTL's turnouts have insulated frogs? was created by drummersteve
Hello Everyone--

Does anyone know if MTL's (Micro-Train) turnouts have insulated frogs?

Thanks,

Hi Steve,
is that the same as power routing? I know that Kato N scale Unitrack is power routing, so throwing the turnout will cut power off to a spur. With MTL track, that doesn't happen. I hope this helps.

Steve, Hi it's Jim down the street! MTL turnouts do not stop electrical current. The three tracks involved are always powered. You have to isolate the sidings using a plastic railjoiner. Cheers, Jim CCRR:)

Hi Steve

Yes the frog is isolated so the switch is DCC friendly and power flow to all exits only the frog has power routing based on position of the points.

However the switch is designed so that it is easy to convert to power routing if desired.
