My Z scale layout was created by Catt
Here is a quick pic to show you what my Z layout looks like at the ripe old age of 8 months. The layout is 24" by 48" with a 2" bump out for the team track.

I still can not believe how much money this little layout has cost to get to this point. Oh well I'm having fun and that is what matters,

Nice size. Love that river across the module. Really helps break up things.

Well done Catt.

What Jeff says about a scenic divider illustrates the essential dilemna of Z scale: you can fit lots of layout into a small space, but the smallness of the space allows the viewer to see all of it at once. Scenic dividers, like the river or buildings, are vital. And yes, it is an expensive hobby!

My layout is around three walls but I am using dividers on each section as well. I really enjoyed your web page and look forward to your progress in Z. Good Luck.

It has been great watching the progress on your layout. Please keep the pictures coming.
I don't recall if you posted a track plan, if not it would be interesting to see how you planned your layout.

Thanks,

Jerry

Thanks for the link. Am I right in thinking that the legs can be removed?

Yes the leg assembly is a totally seperate piece that the layout sets on.If I do a show by myself the layout fits nicely in the back seat of my '01 Chevy Prizm, and I will set the layout of a show provided banquet table.I am planning to (with a little luck) double the length of the layout over the summer months so it will be 8' long, the extra 4' will also be wider at 30".The track will not be so straight either.

Since when was perfection demanded here? Don't worry about the track being straight just keep building, good job.

:) Goob, Since you asked the question, never. On the other hand, the pursuit of excellence should be a goal. A personal goal for sure. Perfection is almost by definition impossible to achieve. Of course Catt's track doesn't have to be straight. Seldom will you find long straights in real life. Good for pointing that out. Cheers, Jim CCRR

On smaller model railways it's very hard to avoid having straight track near the edge of the layout, and that looks a bit obvious. If it's possible to avoid that, and still have good operations and/or scenery, then go for it.

Good for you! My layout's almost two and a half years old, and the layout's namesake waterway is still dry as dust (and mostly covered in it).

Here is the latest addition to the layout.Part opf the reason for the blurry pic is that the train is moving and I was in a hurry to get the pic before the train got to me.

The scene is not done yet,but I am running out of time till our first show and there is at least a 3 day hospital stay in the mix too.
