Description
I had a blast altering (can you kit bash trees??) the Heki trees.
The trees all started out so shiny and uniform, which is so boring. Each tree was clipped randomly from top to bottom as well as all around. Glue was smeared all over the branches of the tree with my fingers making sure I got the glue deep inside the tree. Once the tree was wet, but not dripping, with glue, I rolled it in a mix of green colours of Woodland Scenics Fine Turf making sure the glue was covered with turf.
While the glue dried (about an hour), I made a custom colour of paint from my stash of water-based acrylic craft paint. Two types of medium green were mixed well with black paint. Again, with my index finger and thumb, I applied the paint evenly over the turf covered trees which makes the needles look dark green. The light green trees did not have any paint applied to them and have only the Fine Turf for texture.
I think they turned out quite well, though I do see a problem with the tops of a few of them being too thick. I could only see how thick those tree tops were in the photo but not so easily in real life.
