The saw mill is definitely HO scale. The product number 282741 is Faller's Z scale engineering works. It is a great large factory! I have not built it yet, but it is in my pile of kits to assemble. Here is the link to the page:

www.faller.de/App/WebObjects/XSeMIPS.woa/cms/page/pid.14.73/Search-result.html?search_keywords=282741

I have built other kits in this series and they are a lot of fun.

I would also check out the Luetke range of builds. They are mostly European but some can cross over to US. They are my favorite kits to build. Very details. The brewery kit is amazing. Yes, they are pricey, but worth it. Here is a ink to them on our Center site:

I've built the engineering works and it's an ok structure but not that much more. Compared to Luetkes buildings the Faller factory is rather coarse and chunky. It goes together easy enough but not anything you have in the foreground without some remodeling.

If you are looking for European-style buildings, then the link you posted is right on, but if you are looking for American-style buildings, then you want to visit zscalemonster www.zscalemonster.com. There you will find quite a variety of buildings to choose from. Zscalemonster is where I get all of my buildings from. Check it out !!!

Hello, this kit is only available in N scale at the moment. It was appearing in our Z scale catalog as a error as it had been assigned for All scales.

Sorry for the confusion, Chris C.

If you are looking for a lumber mill in particular, check out N Scale Architect's Long Valley lumber mill. It is an impressive kit in Z!

Depends on area you are modeling and time period. If you are doing 1955 steam era, were the factory buildings made in 1955, or 1900? Or somewhere in between? IF that is the case, a lot of those brick types of "European" buildings would work just fine with little or no modifications.

I've been working on a saw mill out of wood. I've painted it and built the power house still waiting for the wood chip burner. Needed windows so I'm using dry wall Plastic tape it is sticky on one side and the mesh is the right size for "Z" scale windows as you can see in the picture. The other picture is another building that I have designed and it's to be a warehouse. I'm using the same dry wall plastic tape for the 10' X 6' windows This is just the back wall of the building with 4 loading doors in the middle.

This is the saw mill Painted

the upper set of windows have a wood frame!
These are not complete I still want to make window frames. these windows are just set on top so you can see the mesh from the dry wall tape.

Walt-- a suggestion---put that dry wall mesh on a black background- and then make copies on printer..
then you can cut (oversize) and glue on the back of inside wall.
another method-- I got some brass windows fron ( escapes now-= but if this the the route you want- I'll find out) painted them white- then put on black construction paper and made copies.
Another way I tried and it worked---get a square of heavy plastic--paint black-- cut notches around the edges to recieve heavy coat thread the color of the mullions you need. The cuts should be the size apart you need for the criss cross effect-- Then take the thread- wrap it around vertically and horozontally-- the back is a mess- but the front comes out with lots of squares. copy it and you have unlimited mullions.
obviously I don't know how to use that nice fancy computer site. I'm still in the sledge and wedge stage...
Fred
PS nice pics--sneakey use of background

I took the dry wall tape it's made of plastic material. I cut the size I needed then ran them thru a Lamination Machine the one for laminating business cards. I put the dry Wall tape between the plastic laminate and ran it thru the Machine! :woohoo: Got windows test run!!

Still need to touch up!

Taking Fred's thread idea a step further.use clear or tinted styrene cut the styrene larger than the window opening notch the edges glue the thread in one notch stretch it across the styrene put it in that notch and glue that holding the thread very tight.oun can do this both horizontally as well as vertical the difference is you can see through it.so you could if you wanted light the building.

If all you want is windows that you can't see through then definitely do it Fred's way.I would.
