Something to look forward to at Denver was created by David K. Smith
For those attending the National Z Scale Convention, here's a little foretaste of something folks may want to see: nztproducts.blogspot.com/2012/04/denver-proxy-part-1.html

David,

Outstanding! What color did you paint the street lights?

That's their factory silver finish. All I did was apply white paint to the LEDs themselves to tone down the glare and diffuse the light a bit.

I get them from a seller named everestmodel on eBay. Look for T93 lamp posts.

Guys,
I have been privileged to see a couple of photos that aren't being shown to the masses.

If you think what you have seen from David is something special, I can tell you hands down............ You ain't seen nothing yet.

Wait till you see the diorama in person. I swear, it is beyond anyone's imagination.

And no, I can not share the photos since they were given to Karin as a special treat since she and David work together on TBS.

Trust me, this diorama is beyond anything you can remotely imagine.

Come to Denver and see...............

Well, to be truthful, what Loren saw was a set of images that haven't been published yet. The blog posts are a few days behind "real time" in order for me to do the writing and image prep.

At this time, the diorama is about 98% done. When it is 100%, the third blog installment will be published, along with many images--which will also be expandable, so folks can get a good eyeful of the finished product. That will likely happen either today or tomorrow.

Loren is also the lucky guy who gets to show it off to the lucky attendees in Denver!

No David,
Karin should be the one to show it off since it was a combination of you and Karin's efforts that made this whole thing possible. I'll be content to stand guard over it so no one slips it into their travel bag on the sly. Say it isn't so.......Z folks are above that sort of nonsense. :o)

I'd like to make an appropiate comment- but there are not enough superlatives. Thanks for the concerted effort to bring THE town to Z scale.

If I'm reading the posts correctly, you did this in only four days?

Pretty much, although a few of the structures were already built, which probably counts as another day of work. So call it five total, and that's about right.

For some of us... that's mind boggling. :S Of course, my mind is Z-scale. :pinch:

Well, it's only 6 x 16 inches, after all; it's not like the thing is a whole layout or anything.

I have had the PRIVILAGE of seeing David's work, the "JAMES RIVER BRANCH" layout (36"x15"). The amount of detail that David can put into a small area is beyound belief. AND now that he is manufacturing, the details that he is providing can make the difference between Ok and fantastic. So seeing the pictures of this to me just reeked of Davids' handiwork. Congradulations David on another FINE modeling job. I hope people will look up your blog site and just read the details of how you put things together and realize that we have a General Contractor in Z Scale

Yeah, my modeling really stinks! (I am just teasing!) Thank you—and everyone else—for the kind words on the diorama. It was great meeting Dwight and Jean . Here's a man who drove from Chicago to Trenton, NJ just to see the James River Branch! I must extend my admiration to his wife Jean for her endurance to take a 1600 mile round-trip with Dwight to see less than four square feet of Z scale layout.
