... I would need a good camera and currently I only have a phone, but i could borrow one for a few shots. How was it built? At a local model train market I managed to buy a few very cheap broken items for their parts. About a year later I saw a few pictures of mci cars in branchline trains and wanted one. So I started with a standard marklin 2 axle freight wagon frame, added metal steps over the buffers that belonged to another (broken) freight wagon. Then I built the body from styrene sheets with glue. The roof is made with thin strips of styrene. This is how the originals were made, but they used wood instead of plastic. I used a ruler, a marker pen and a hobby knife for cutting out the pieces and to mesure a standard marklin boxcar for size. The unpainted version is in my gallery too. Then I painted the body green (ep3=solid green, ep2=gray with yellow windows), added clear plastic sheets as window glass and added a few simple decals. The body is held in place on the frame by two plastic pegs the same way marklin cars do it. A few things didn't turn out as I planned, unfortunately the windows are about 1mm bigger (taller and wider) than prototypical. The overall size is good since it fits into a standard marklin box for 2 axle boxcars. |
