The next best is the nebenbahn (branchline) set, the pwgs and my mci-43, because they have a short wheel base. The next place go to the 3 axle umbauwagen (1950's rebuilt cars) and the donnerbusche (1920's standard). The umbauwagen's middle axle tend to jam in tight turns and the donnerbusche have a too long wheelbase to turn well. The next place go to the 4 axle umbauwagen (rebuilt express cars), because they have bogies, they are not too long and turn well. The worst cars in curves are the standard length passanger cars because they are too long for mountains and industrial curves and have a too large overhang. For the 3 axle cars, the trick to make them good runners is to remove the rust buildup from the middle axle's holders and then pinch the metal plates together so the wheels have the largest possible room to move sideways, this way they don't jam or derail in tight curves. Always make sure that the special wheels get placed into the middle, the ones without journal bearings on the sides. |
