New Z Freight Car suggestions wanted by MTL

More
10 years 8 months ago #15885 by JoeD
Hey all,

Annual request for suggestions. Only rule is that the subject be seen in different paint schemes on different roads at any time in their lives. A Pennsy X28 is a nice car, but only came in one or two flavors and I can't sell that to management. Suggest away.

Thanks

Joe

2 sugestions

FMC Offset Double Door Boxcars. Simular to what MTL and Athearn/Roundhouse have in N scale. Lots of shortline paint schemes availiable....like the Sierra Railroad, McCloud, City of Prineville, Oregon Pacific and Eastern, Port of Tillamook Bay, Railroad of Oregon, Yreka Western, etc.

An offset steel cupola caboose, in any roadname you want.

I suggest improving customer service, spare parts availability, and MTL switches(issues with those are no state secret); x2 e-mails sent recently to MTL regarding SD40-2 side frame replacements, manual switches in the past, and not a single response from anyone. I would say improve what you have before unleashing creativity...

Hi Joe
Before I got started in z scale, I was into n scale. One freight car I collected was MTL's drop center heavy haul flat cars. I think you should make those in z scale. It would also make a larger market to sell loads for them.
Also a 39' ore car would be nice.

Keep up the great work Joe! B)

Steve

I need to know your email address so I can check what is going on. If it came to me you would have anything you need to fix what is wrong...but we have an agressive spam filter in the front office and sometimes things don't get to us. We have plenty of spares and would be happy to fix/replace anything you have.

Cheers

Joe

About freight cars, anything that matches modern era (let's say, since end 70's / beginning 80's). Some folks spoke about tankers and grain hoppers, I definitly agree with them.

And sorry to be out of subject, I do agree with dealing with turnout's issues. Not to say the first product in all areas I'm dreaming of is a turnout such as Atlas, Shinohara or Peco do for other scales: a power routing turnout with no plastic roadbed, no side mechanism nor any other feature. Something that would perfectly match MTL flextrack... But sorry I'm out of that topic's subject.

I would like to see 3 dome tank cars. If I could ask, painted for 76. Oil had 'The Pipe Line on Wheels' or 'RAILS' or something like that.
